Top Ten Best IOS Apps For Teen Girls

10 Best Apps For Teenage Girls

I've seen this going around for a while, people blogging about the best apps one can possibly have on their smartphones.

I have further narrowed this down to "20 Best Apps Teenage Girls can own" that appeals to the generic 12-19 female audience.

If you've come to this site and have that drab new Iphone/Ipad in your hands that your parents have got you for your birthday with apps like "News" and "Stocks", you've come to the right place!

This list is also only for IOS devices, preferably updated to the latest version and NOT jailbroken! I might be making a list for Android devices soon enough.

There are paid apps as well (I don't particularly use those as I don't believe in paying for apps, but that's my opinion) that many are talking about and are included in the list! Now whip out your App store and get downloading~:

1. The Sims Freeplay

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Electronic Arts Inc.
Size: 605 MB

This game features your very own sim city where you can basically create sims (human like characters in the game) where you decide their skin tone, ages, hairstyles, clothes, eye colours etc. and make each one unique as you place them in the sim town, you get to level up as you proceed, earning simoleons and lifepoints in the process that help brighten up your gameplay by making you capable of unlocking more clothes, hairstyles, areas in the town! You can create long chains of families from each sim. There are also community events that you can participate in that come once a while where you work with others to unlock a bunch of items in the game! The possibilities are endless! Needless to say, this is the first app on my list!

2. QuizUp

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Glu Games Inc
Size: 97.1 MB

For those of you that take long breaks in between study sessions then feel guilty about it, this is your answer! It quizzes you, generally of course, on topics of your interest and you get to compete against another person around the world that shares the same interest. The Kardashians? Check. Anime? Check. Fashion? Check. More of a biology type of gal? Check! It really is something one can do in their spare time without getting bored!

3. Wattpad

Category: Books
Rating: 17+
Developers: Wattpad Corp
Size: 57.8 MB

Wattpad is basically where brilliant authors and reading enthusiasts gather in one place to share amazing FREE stories that can be read all around the world. If you're a fan of reading and don't want to throw much of that pocket allowance on that new Mortal Instruments' book, this app right here is going to help you greatly! You can save as many books to your library as you want at your home and then open them whilst on a road trip.

4. Tumblr / Pinterest

Category: Social Networking
Rating: 17+
Developers: Yahoo! Inc.
Size: 85.5 MB

Tumblr isn't famous for nothing! Oh and it's nothing close to the "tumblr" that you type after every search on google e.g. "Hairstyles Tumblr", "Beyonce Tumblr" etc. This Tumblr is a social network where you can share pictures, links, quotes, and run an entire blog itself. It's an amazing social network that gathers everything and then displays them in whatever layout and format that you like! You can also follow certain topics that pique you interest and posts from these topics will be displayed on your newsfeed daily.

A very good alternative to Tumblr is Pinterest.

Though there's not much difference between the two, Pinterest is a bit more lighthearted and less mature than Tumblr. Personally, I prefer Pinterest to Tumblr for it's easier to find content.

5. Episode -- Choose your story

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Episode Interactive, LLC
Size: 157 MB

Episode Interactive, the one and only app that has teenage stories with PICTURES! More like a teenage picture book. Authors on the app release stories that they write through some complex programming in a series of episodes that features animated characters for a more vivid imagery, and then readers can use passes to read each episode! The more developed stories also let you create your own avatar and choose your own name that will be used throughout the story! It's a very excellent app nonetheless if you're the type that get bored when reading picture-less books (Don't worry, you're not alone ;) )

6. Poshmark: Buy & Sell Fashion

Category: Shopping
Rating: 4+
Developers: Poshmark, Inc.
Size: 35.9 MB

(Only for U.S. Citizens)

This app is pretty self explanatory. Looking to step up your pocket money game this summer but aren't bothered to sweep the backyard or wash the dishes? Got a closet spilling of unwanted clothes? Download this app then! Poshmark allows you to list your unwanted clothes at suitable prices so that you can free up the space in your closet to buy clothes that you can actually wear and earn money at the same time! As they say "One (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure". You may also find stuff from other people that you might like and negotiate the prices down to what may be affordable to you.

7. Allwomenstalk

Rating: 12+
Developers: Vyacheslav Kaushan
Size: 51.1 MB

Allwomenstalk allows you to read articles on different topics like Love, Fashion, Beauty (Hair & Makeup), Life Hacks, DIY's, Celeb trends and more! It allows you to catch up with the buzz that the world is keeping up with in this fast paced life. Personally, its icon is rather cute as well and sticks out brightly from your screen! Get it while you can, fellas!

8. Whisper

Category: Social Networking
Rating: 17+
Developers: WhisperText LLC.
Size: 55.3 MB

Whisper is an app that lets you broadcast secrets or personal things to millions of strangers that use the app. Daunting right? Well, you're supposed to choose a neutral username that doesn't give away your identity away easily. You can find thousands of whispers from other users based around personal lives, achievements, guilty pleasures, insecurities, confessions and many other topics. It also has a 'Near me' tab that presents whispers shared by those within the specified radius (e.g. Stalk your neighbors) and you can also give in your school's name if you want and find what your schoolmates are posting about (You can finally confirm that your instincts were right! Charlie does crush on Jessica! Atleast that's what happened to me..). Vent, rant, confess, do whatever you want under your anon bubble, no one's going to judge you.

9. Polyvore (Not available anymore)

Polyvore is an essential in every girl's phone and is a big tool when you have to look your best for the next big event like a girl's night out, or a wedding perhaps, maybe even just a hangout with your friends. This app presents clothing items in all kinds of price rates from designer brands like Gucci and Prada to drugstore products. Another thing I like about this app is that you can even insert your own garments into the app to match with the existing items and create the perfect look with the right matching colours, and the best thing is that the app isn't restricted to clothes only, there are things like beauty, hairstyles and other categories that you can mess around with for creating the look, you can also share your created outfit sets on the app also and others can like it and comment on it. It's pretty much hard to miss this app on anyone's smart device.
[Fun Fact]: This is the very app I used to create the styles for teen hijabi outfits, which are all covered in a blog post 2 posts below.

(Has currently shut down :C , you could use TrendMe as an alternative)

10. VSCo

Category:Photo & Video
Rating: 12+
Developers: Visual Supply Company
Size: 115.8 MB

Which girl could suffice not having any sort of photo editor on their gadget in this era of social networking and mass photo sharing? Despite there being many sorts of photo editors in the market, I specifically chose this one because it really has a straightforward interface along with COPIOUS filters that are currently trending right now. You can meticulously toggle with a picture's inherent elements and adjust the saturation, temperature, white balance etc etc without needing to think much about it. One more reason why I have chosen this app in specific because on Pinterest, you can find abundant posts on how to make your photos attain a certain filter or percolate certain vibes from it like vintage, retro, rosy, etc and I think that's rather engaging to be fair, because it seemingly is fascinating seeing your own picture transform to those of  celebrities you look up to or social media influencers, it's indeed like a little game in itself.
