Top Ten Best IOS Apps For Teen Girls

10 Best Apps For Teenage Girls

I've seen this going around for a while, people blogging about the best apps one can possibly have on their smartphones.

I have further narrowed this down to "20 Best Apps Teenage Girls can own" that appeals to the generic 12-19 female audience.

If you've come to this site and have that drab new Iphone/Ipad in your hands that your parents have got you for your birthday with apps like "News" and "Stocks", you've come to the right place!

This list is also only for IOS devices, preferably updated to the latest version and NOT jailbroken! I might be making a list for Android devices soon enough.

There are paid apps as well (I don't particularly use those as I don't believe in paying for apps, but that's my opinion) that many are talking about and are included in the list! Now whip out your App store and get downloading~:

1. The Sims Freeplay

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Electronic Arts Inc.
Size: 605 MB

This game features your very own sim city where you can basically create sims (human like characters in the game) where you decide their skin tone, ages, hairstyles, clothes, eye colours etc. and make each one unique as you place them in the sim town, you get to level up as you proceed, earning simoleons and lifepoints in the process that help brighten up your gameplay by making you capable of unlocking more clothes, hairstyles, areas in the town! You can create long chains of families from each sim. There are also community events that you can participate in that come once a while where you work with others to unlock a bunch of items in the game! The possibilities are endless! Needless to say, this is the first app on my list!

2. QuizUp

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Glu Games Inc
Size: 97.1 MB

For those of you that take long breaks in between study sessions then feel guilty about it, this is your answer! It quizzes you, generally of course, on topics of your interest and you get to compete against another person around the world that shares the same interest. The Kardashians? Check. Anime? Check. Fashion? Check. More of a biology type of gal? Check! It really is something one can do in their spare time without getting bored!

3. Wattpad

Category: Books
Rating: 17+
Developers: Wattpad Corp
Size: 57.8 MB

Wattpad is basically where brilliant authors and reading enthusiasts gather in one place to share amazing FREE stories that can be read all around the world. If you're a fan of reading and don't want to throw much of that pocket allowance on that new Mortal Instruments' book, this app right here is going to help you greatly! You can save as many books to your library as you want at your home and then open them whilst on a road trip.

4. Tumblr / Pinterest

Image result for tumblr icon

Category: Social Networking
Rating: 17+
Developers: Yahoo! Inc.
Size: 85.5 MB

Tumblr isn't famous for nothing! Oh and it's nothing close to the "tumblr" that you type after every search on google e.g. "Hairstyles Tumblr", "Beyonce Tumblr" etc. This Tumblr is a social network where you can share pictures, links, quotes, and run an entire blog itself. It's an amazing social network that gathers everything and then displays them in whatever layout and format that you like! You can also follow certain topics that pique you interest and posts from these topics will be displayed on your newsfeed daily.

//
A very good alternative to Tumblr is Pinterest.

Though there's not much difference between the two, Pinterest is a bit more lighthearted and less mature than Tumblr. Personally, I prefer Pinterest to Tumblr for it's easier to find content.

5. Episode -- Choose your story

Category: Games
Rating: 12+
Developers: Episode Interactive, LLC
Size: 157 MB

Episode Interactive, the one and only app that has teenage stories with PICTURES! More like a teenage picture book. Authors on the app release stories that they write through some complex programming in a series of episodes that features animated characters for a more vivid imagery, and then readers can use passes to read each episode! The more developed stories also let you create your own avatar and choose your own name that will be used throughout the story! It's a very excellent app nonetheless if you're the type that get bored when reading picture-less books (Don't worry, you're not alone ;) )

6. Poshmark: Buy & Sell Fashion

Category: Shopping
Rating: 4+
Developers: Poshmark, Inc.
Size: 35.9 MB

(Only for U.S. Citizens)

This app is pretty self explanatory. Looking to step up your pocket money game this summer but aren't bothered to sweep the backyard or wash the dishes? Got a closet spilling of unwanted clothes? Download this app then! Poshmark allows you to list your unwanted clothes at suitable prices so that you can free up the space in your closet to buy clothes that you can actually wear and earn money at the same time! As they say "One (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure". You may also find stuff from other people that you might like and negotiate the prices down to what may be affordable to you.

7. Allwomenstalk

Category: Lifestyle
Rating: 12+
Developers: Vyacheslav Kaushan
Size: 51.1 MB

Allwomenstalk allows you to read articles on different topics like Love, Fashion, Beauty (Hair & Makeup), Life Hacks, DIY's, Celeb trends and more! It allows you to catch up with the buzz that the world is keeping up with in this fast paced life. Personally, its icon is rather cute as well and sticks out brightly from your screen! Get it while you can, fellas!

8. Whisper

Category: Social Networking
Rating: 17+
Developers: WhisperText LLC.
Size: 55.3 MB

Whisper is an app that lets you broadcast secrets or personal things to millions of strangers that use the app. Daunting right? Well, you're supposed to choose a neutral username that doesn't give away your identity away easily. You can find thousands of whispers from other users based around personal lives, achievements, guilty pleasures, insecurities, confessions and many other topics. It also has a 'Near me' tab that presents whispers shared by those within the specified radius (e.g. Stalk your neighbors) and you can also give in your school's name if you want and find what your schoolmates are posting about (You can finally confirm that your instincts were right! Charlie does crush on Jessica! Atleast that's what happened to me..). Vent, rant, confess, do whatever you want under your anon bubble, no one's going to judge you.

9. Polyvore (Not available anymore)

Category:

Developers:

Polyvore is an essential in every girl's phone and is a big tool when you have to look your best for the next big event like a girl's night out, or a wedding perhaps, maybe even just a hangout with your friends. This app presents clothing items in all kinds of price rates from designer brands like Gucci and Prada to drugstore products. Another thing I like about this app is that you can even insert your own garments into the app to match with the existing items and create the perfect look with the right matching colours, and the best thing is that the app isn't restricted to clothes only, there are things like beauty, hairstyles and other categories that you can mess around with for creating the look, you can also share your created outfit sets on the app also and others can like it and comment on it. It's pretty much hard to miss this app on anyone's smart device.
[Fun Fact]: This is the very app I used to create the styles for teen hijabi outfits, which are all covered in a blog post 2 posts below.

(Has currently shut down :C , you could use TrendMe as an alternative)

10. VSCo

Category:Photo & Video
Rating: 12+
Developers: Visual Supply Company
Size: 115.8 MB

Which girl could suffice not having any sort of photo editor on their gadget in this era of social networking and mass photo sharing? Despite there being many sorts of photo editors in the market, I specifically chose this one because it really has a straightforward interface along with COPIOUS filters that are currently trending right now. You can meticulously toggle with a picture's inherent elements and adjust the saturation, temperature, white balance etc etc without needing to think much about it. One more reason why I have chosen this app in specific because on Pinterest, you can find abundant posts on how to make your photos attain a certain filter or percolate certain vibes from it like vintage, retro, rosy, etc and I think that's rather engaging to be fair, because it seemingly is fascinating seeing your own picture transform to those of  celebrities you look up to or social media influencers, it's indeed like a little game in itself.

Terminology for New College Students

Coming from a country that was not "America" (which seems to dominate everything nowadays from the internet to lifestyles), everything was very confusing to me when I entered 12th grade and the pressure of starting to look for a college poured down upon me, so I live in an Arabic country and have been attending private schools all since, where a bilingual system remained of English and Arabic.

Ofcourse I didn't seem to care about all this in the younger classes because then you have to focus on your studies only as college seems to be way far off, but as you get closer to the higher classes, you need to open up sites on the internet of colleges, attend meetings with universities visiting your country, etc. and this is all very perplexing at first, well atleast to me for starters.

Some people might get a quick grasp of everything due to an elder sibling or a senior / college graduate friend, but one still needs to make out a lot of things without relying on someone else's help.

School to College is a big jump, and searching for a right college is way more stressful because you need to take matter into your own hands.

Here's a list of terms and glossary that I had found really difficult to understand when I started searching for colleges abroad, this might not be much helpful to residents for first world country residents since I bet they already have a fair idea what these things mean from the start, but for others I hope this article covers all that you need to know.

The Sequencing of Educational levels

-School Sequence-

1. Nursery / Preschool
2. Kindergarten / Infant School / Preschool / Daycare
3. Primary School / Elementary School
4. Secondary School / High School

-College Sequence-

1. Undergraduate

This is directly the status acquired by students that had graduated school and are to start college, and this includes two kinds of degrees;

Associates

Associates takes about 2 years, and this is an alternative to the norm degree that falls in line after school which is Bachelors, the reason why this degree is chosen over bachelors is due to: lower tuition fees, fewer years of study so faster job placement and less competitive academic requirements. Credits from an Associates degree can also be transferred to a Bachelors degree in case of a change of mind later on only by some universities. There are four types of associate degrees: AA, AS, AAA and AAS.
AA - Associates of Arts
AS - Associates of Science
AAA - Associates of APPLIED Arts
AAS - Associates of Science

The main difference is that the “applied” courses are more focused on preparing students for a specific career, focus on practical job-related skills, whereas the AA and AS are targeted more at students who want to go on to a bachelor’s degree, with a focus on preparation for higher levels of academic study.

Bachelors

Bachelors usually takes 3-4 years based on the course you are taking, it is the FIRST degree to be acquired by a college entree that is going on a traditional educational path, and it involves various types of bachelors like BSc, BA, BEng, Bcom and BTech and more.

BSc - Bachelor of Science
BA - Bachelor of Arts
BEng- Bachelor of English
Bcom - Bachelor of Commerce
BTech - Bachelor of Technology
LLB - Bachelor of Law

There can be an overlap between two bachelors based on the course, e.g Psychology, Accounting and Business, in which case there's an option of choosing either type of certificate, and some universities offer a merged certificate of both, but in that case the student needs to fulfil both the conditions of the certificates. BSc often focuses on a tighter approach, focusing on the candidate's analysing skills and ability to focus on a detailed subject content, whereas BA has a broader area of learning due to assessing skills like communication and writing, however both are of the same importance.

2. Postgraduate

This is the status acquired by a student that has successfully completed their Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree and would now progress to a narrower field of study and specialisation into their course along with more research and coursework.

Masters

Masters falls directly after Bachelors degree and it takes 2 full years COUNTING Bachelors in, otherwise it's a total of 6 years from the time one starts college. A Masters Degree is a very valuable degree as it is the final formal degree that is recognized by many vocational fields to be the highest form of qualification available and also has the connotation of a successfully completed college alumni, but it's ofcourse not the concluding degree as you can see.  Like Bachelors, Masters also has many branches.

MSc / MS - Masters of Science
MA - Masters of Arts
MLS / MLIS / MSLS - Masters of Library Science
LLM - Masters of Law
MFA - Masters of Fine Arts
MEng - Masters of Engineering (not English)

The difference between MA and MFA is that, MA has a more liberal outlook and would allow you to intake subjects like Literature, History and General Studies while with MFA you'd have a fixed approach towards creativity and design. There is also the option (particularly in countries such as the US) to earn a master’s degree alongside your undergraduate studies. This is called “en route”, “in passing” or “in course” and is awarded following the successful completion of coursework and certain examinations.

PhD

PhD is the last qualification that can be attained by a college student, and it involves the production of a thesis that offers a compelling contribution in a specific domain. Its expanded form would be Doctor of Philosophy.

Hope you got the gist of it. You can find many articles online on google to assist you with perceiving the various forms of educational systems and pre-college procedures.

Review of OGX Eucalyptus Mint Conditioner

Review of OGX Eucalyptus Mint Conditioner

Back in my own city, I always remembered entering the malls and finding this overly priced hair product in the aisles of the beauty care section, and I was like, who would actually buy this man? However, I thought a little too early because like 2 years later, my aunt got me this as a gift on my 18th birthday, and I was overjoyed but also felt like I was indebted to her, moving on, I finally am in a position to review this conditioner

Frontside

The container comes in a smooth plastic aqua blue convex shape that prints out all the supposed promises that the product would accomplish for the user. It has the OGX label printed below the description and the name, which is a distinctly far layout than the conventional cosmetic products. That is also why it took me some time to actually find the name of this product.

Backside

Since the price tag of the store was glued very robustly, I couldn't take it out entirely for you guys to see the whole description, but the backside of this product is of course vastly available on the internet. In the gist of it, this product basically has more of self-promotion in different languages haha. It has a pleasant 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' which really catered to my eco-friendly self and gives us the options of being able to recycle this bottle. It is best used under 1 year 6 months as stated by the minuscule open cylinder icon at the bottom.

Review

I have used this conditioner for some months now since my aunt gifted it to me, and I will say that it is as it claims to be. It has this sweet robust scent to it and whenever applied to the hair, and as per the instructions, it should be left on the hair 3-5 minutes after shampooing and also it should be applied from the roots itself, which I don't really know is product promotion or genuine direction of use, but as I have been browsing through lots of hair care articles, I know for sure that the use for a conditioner depends upon the the hair texture, and that the fine haired should spread the conditioner through the tips of the hair strands, but the coarse ones should massage it onto the scalp from the roots to the tips. You should try from the roots, and if it makes your hair extra sticky, then just start from the strands. Other than that, I would say that it's the ideal conditioner for my hair, and it really does have a refreshing tingly menthol effect when added to the scalp, not to mention that when you wash it off, your hair feels so smooth and silky, it glides through your fingers like running water. Your head also smells really airy and musky post-shower and manages to withhold your hair from frizz, WHICH I never had the chance of experiencing from other conditioners, they rather made my hair even frizzier than it was.

Review of Vatika Hair Mayonaise

Image result for vatika egg and mayonnaise hair mask

Day 1

I followed the directions of use on the label behind the container, and applied QUITE generously, coating all my hair strands from the ends and my scalp, but what I didn't do was leave it on for 3 minutes, rather I left it on for about 20 minutes because of the lazy bum that I am, and frankly I thought that it'd work its magic far more the longer I left it on.

Now for the results:
This is actually the worst thing ever, just when I was applying it, there was initial hair fall which i thought should happen because of shedding at application, but then in the shower itself I pulled out gollops of hair again and again while brushing there was MORE HAIRFALL THAN WHEN MY HAIR WAS ACTUALLY DAMAGED AND MALNOURISHED! Blimey! Who would've thought a "Hairfall control" product actually promotes hair fall? I was really shocked and filled with regret at my purchase of 12,021 AED, a serious waste of money, but I am not going to stop using it, this is only day 1 and I can't conclude anything just yet, so hang on fellas and bear with me, I'll update this after a week.

Day 2

So this time I decided to actually follow what the product said and put on the hair mayonnaise for approx. 3 mins (which actually went to extend onto 5 mins), and unfortunately the results weren't any better than before, although I did notice a slight improvement, it feels very damp and nice when you first put it on but after the shower is where the trouble starts, lots of hair fell out in the shower itself, and this isn't shedding because I am maintaining a routine where I rotate all my hair care every shower, and I started with this Hair Mayonnaise, second round I'd do oiling, thirdly I'd do the conditioner, and the results aren't bad at all with them, your hair might feel soft in the shower when you wash away this product from your hair but then when you comb it afterwards, there's a hell lot of tangles and in a mess. But maybe I'm concluding this product still a bit too early, let's see what day 3 has to say.

Day 3

I did do a better job with the timing this time as I ended it at exactly 3 mins but then i took an additional 4 mins to get the shower ready, which means I took 7 mins again in total, but the product wasn't as bad as I made it to sound in the first two days, but it's still not a miraculous life-changing product either, it made my hair smoother and made my curls more well defined than it was supposed to be but that's about it, all the false claims about it clearing dandruff off and yadda yadda wasn't exactly true in practice, I'd say this product isn't worthy of its price, and don't recommend it upon anyone as there are so much more finer products in the market that are actually worth their price rather than this.

Review of BodyShop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash

BodyShop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review

I was touring a mall, and then I entered BodyShop, the usual vibe given from it of stacks of fancily named products stashed in various kinds of intricate bottles, an invisible hand pulling anybody that enters to just give up and buy everything in sight, I needed a face wash, and I also heard that tea tree does wonders in clearing up acne and oily residue, which was exactly what I was facing at the time, so my eyes landed on a green bottle of Tea Tree Facial Wash in a miniscule wine green bottle. I didn't even spend much time scouring the shop and I had already found what I needed.

Frontside

As seen above, it doesn't really have an illustration/graphic image at the front but at the side of leave which I'm guessing are Tea Tree leaves, 'Tea Tree' is in bold green letters, the font really gives off an aesthetic sense though, that's one of the reasons why BodyShop's products look so tempting often without a graphic image to accompany it. It has skin clearing facial wash below the title written in English and French, and then goes to state the main ingredients present for the treatment 'With purifying tea tree oil from the the foothills of Mount Kenya', oh BodyShop, always the one with such lavish words. It contains 60 ml / 2.0 fl oz. of the product. The container is made of sturdy plastic with a black contrasting generic cap at the top.

Backside

The backside is where BodyShop engraves it means of contacting etc. and I've noticed that there is a 'pull me' type of slip that you pull perhaps in hopes they might reveal you some dark secrets, but no it's just the license and ingredients only.

Review

I have been using this product for about 5 months now, but honestly speaking, this review might still be a tad inaccurate because I haven't been using it constantly, but then again this product is one of those products that AREN'T supposed to be used frequently. This tea tree facial wash should be used occasionally on those days where your breakouts seem to be extreme and you've tried everything but your stubborn acne refuses to leave your skin. What I did mostly was that I mixed it with my main facial wash (yes, I didn't keep this one as my main one, my main one was Himalaya's ....) and it did turn out well enough, because I realised that when I used it alone, it didn't lather enough or seem like it had affected me at all because of the minute sized pint that you're suggested to use it in. However, if you do mix it with another daily face wash (which you should certainly have alongside this, having this alone as your only face wash is not what I'd recommend), it'd act like a solvent and evenly spread this across your face allowing it to work its magic evenly throughout your facial skin. From what I have researched, any product related to Tea Tree might have a stinging feeling at the beginning which is a good thing since the product is actually working to remove all the clogged up debris from inside your pores, but with this one I had realised that all it did was just make my face dryer after I had washed it away, the stinging feeling was extremely brief after application, and very insignificant. It could be because I have a combination skin (oily T zone and nose, while other parts are just dry), but overall, this product didn't work its magic on me.
